![]() On September 26, 1970, Barbara married the love of her life, Selmer Schow in Wilmington, Illinois. She would eventually trade in her nurse's cap to be a stay-at-home mom for 20 years before returning to the medical field in the 90's to work in geriatric care. before starting her nursing career in pediatrics. She spent her formative years in and around Aurora and Tucson, Arizona, making countless memories with friends as she never met a stranger.Īfter graduating from Aurora East High School (Illinois), Barbara attended Walther Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, where she was selected for an RN apprenticeship in Washington D.C. The oldest of four siblings, Barbara was born on May 7, 1938, in Aurora, Illinois, to Fred and Irene (Mueller) Wilkening. Preceding him in death are, Johnny Holmes (dad), Dave Fields (step dad), Exie B (mom), Mable Hill (former wife), Robert Hill (stepson), Randy Strickland (son) Dave Jr, Chester, Walter, Ottis, Ogis and Julius (brothers) Vanilla, Gladest and Diana (sisters).īarbara Ann Schow (Wilkening), 84, of Lamar, Missouri passed away peacefully at the family farm on Sunday, March 26, 2023. He joined many young men to the Mason order.įrank is survived by his partner Nancy Robinson, brothers, Henry Fields (Cheryl) of Memphis, TN and James Fields of Joplin, Allen Pippen grandson, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Frank was active in the community where he was a founder of the Aristocrats Club a social club and sponsored many events for the African American local community.įrank was a Life Member of Myrtle Lodge 149 Mason Family, Joplin, served as the Past Master: Consistory #7, 32nd Degree, Kansas City, MO Charter Member of UKHFI Temple 203 (A.E.A.O.N.M.S.), Ft Leonard Wood, MO, served as the Past Potentate, Oasis of Fort Leonard Wood, Joplin, Springfield and Desert of Missouri. He was also involved in several different Bowling Leagues and enjoyed fishing. He was preceded in death by sisters, Janeth Louise (1946-1946) and Shirlena Kay Fong (1944-2011), and brothers Thomas Michael (1952-2013), and Gerald Duane (1939-2016).ĭuring his young adult life Frank coached Little League Baseball and Football teams for the Boys & Girls Club of Joplin. Glane was the second son born to Noel Baker Harris (1918- 2004) and Velvia Marie Owens (1923-2003). He loved both gospel and bluegrass music. He treasured the memories of fishing trips on the White River with his sons and grandsons. ![]() He loved spending time on family trips, golf, fishing, and watching his sports teams, the Giants, 49ers, and Warriors over the years. He was a devoted Christian and loved his family fiercely. He loved getting to know people and making friends from different places and learning about their cultures. He met people and made friends of all ethnic backgrounds in his job and came home with many fun stories of trying foods from various countries, offered to him by the owners of some of his accounts. The funeral service will be Friday, at 2:00pm at Grace Episcopal Church in Carthage, with burial to follow at Park Cemetery.
